The SmartScoring Shooting Star Award goes to … Marta Pihan-Kulesza (POL) and Samir Ait Said (FRA)
Today the CEO of SmartScoring Yusif Rzayev honoured Marta Pihan-Kulesza (POL) and Samir Ait Said (FRA) with the Shooting Star award. This award goes to gymnasts with an exceptional story who are an inspiration for the future generation of gymnasts and the general public alike.
Marta Pihan-Kulesza is the 9-time Polish all-around Champion and a two-time Olympian (2008 and 2012). She retired in 2016, gave birth to daughter Jagna in 2017 and came back to gymnastics soon afterwards. Initially just to keep fit but got back into competition form and won her 9th national title. Combining family life with training and working, Marta’s daily routine is well planned and as her parents and in-laws live further away, Marta, daughter Jagna and husband Roman travel together to competitions as a true team. At these Europeans, she competed in her hometown of Szczecin.
29-year old Samir Aït-Saïd is already a 6-time European medallist on still rings, his specialty. He won the continental title in 2013. Samir saw his Olympic dream shattered twice. In 2012 he sustained an injury at the European Championships just a few months before the Games. In 2016, he qualified to the rings final but broke his leg on vault shortly after, resulting in a year of rehab. Back competing now, he is one of France’s biggest medal hopes.
SmartScoring CEO Yusif Rzayev commented:
These two gymnasts are examples of hard work, dedication and love for this sport. Through their actions, they inspire young talents and we want to put this achievement in the spotlight
